O.B.F. First-Ever Australian Show – Red Earth × Traction | Perth
Description
AUSTRALIA, BRACE YOURSELF.
Over 20 years in the game.
O.B.F. finally lands in Australia for the very first time – and Perth gets the first session.
On Wednesday 30 December, Red Earth Dub Circus welcomes one of the biggest names in contemporary dub to The Rechabite. For this landmark debut, Red Earth Sound System and Traction Sound System will combine for the very first time, bringing two WA custom-built systems together to create one monumental wall of sound.
O.B.F.’s Dubquake sessions are the stuff of legend.
When O.B.F. comes to town, it’s a DUBQUAKE experience!
Emerging from the underground scene around Geneva in 2002, O.B.F.—Original Bass Foundation—has helped shape the sound of modern dub. Producer and selector Rico fuses Jamaican reggae foundations, militant UK steppers, dancehall and electronic bass music into an unmistakable sound, built for maximum impact on a sound system. Through legendary Dubquake nights, worldwide touring, Dubquake Records and collaborations with Charlie P, Sr. Wilson, Belén Natalí and the late Nazamba, O.B.F. has become a defining force in contemporary sound-system culture. At the controls, Rico brings explosive energy: vocal anthems, heavyweight roots & steppers, raw dub pressure and basslines that demand movement. After more than two decades, Australian audiences finally get to experience it in person.
Two sound systems. One room. Welcome to the pressurebox.
Red Earth × Traction Sound System are bringing the stacks to match, turning The Rechabite into a pressurebox of heavyweight bass and collective energy. Two local crews joining forces, with O.B.F. at the controls – a landmark gathering for WA’s sound-system community and an open invitation to anyone ready for their first session. This will be WA Sound System Culture History in action!
