Paper Tiger – album launch Between the Lines of Stillness

Paper Tiger brings together three of Australia’s most accomplished jazz musicians to create music of dazzling originality and innovation.

With Jamie Oehlers on saxophone, Steve Magnusson on guitar and Ben Vanderwal on drums, Paper Tiger is a trio that surpasses the sum of its already significant parts. This performance will launch the the trio’s second album Between the Lines of Stillness – a decade after its first self-titled album.

These musicians share a passion for stretching musical boundaries and their interplay in improvisation creates an adventurous combination of intricate melodies, rhythmic textures, and tonal variation in every performance. As a truly collaborative ensemble, each member contributes original works, resulting in an array of styles and influences that help to define the group in performance – leaving an indelible mark on audiences and proving that their artistry is as compelling as the vibrant jazz scene they proudly represent in Australia.
