The collective tunes of this album create a “concept album” aimed at capturing the artistic aesthetics of Noir and Neo-Noir film genres through various jazz related idioms. The concept is derived from various music styles including UK Jazz, 70s Jazz fusion, Neo Soul, Jazz-funk, Modal jazz, Lounge music, and early 20th century impressionism; All of which have the ability to encapsulate the dark, gloomy, expressive and cynical characteristics of Noir Films. The Perth based group consists of band leader/drummer/composer Julius Rogers, Trumpeter Ricki Malet, Bassists Joe Powell, Guitarists Ben Lazzaro Keyboardist Brodie Stewart, and percussionist Steve Richter; Some of Australia's finest improvising musicians.
