When three is better than two and two is better than one, you have Double Trio.

This twin set of three-piece bands features Switzerland-based MaxMantis and the Josh Meader Trio from Sydney.

Think Marvel meets DC meets jazz and you have MaxMantis. Returning to the PIJF is this formidable trio made up of Lukas Gernet (JeffMantis) on piano, Rafael Jerjen (RexMantis) on bass, and Samuel Buettiker (BobMantis) on drums. Tonight, these three accomplished musicians will tell the ongoing story of their alternate superhero lives through musical themes, jingles, free improvisation and chaos. Here, stylistic and musical boundaries do not exist - into the infinite abyss and beyond! Maximum Mantis!

The Josh Meader Trio is an instrumental cross-genre powerhouse led by guitarist Josh Meader, second-place finalist in this year’s National Jazz Awards, and featuring previous NJA winners Alex Hirlian (drums) and Matt Thomson (keys). Blending and blurring a multitude of genres including contemporary music, modern jazz, funk, hip-hop and rock, JMT presents an undeniably unique listening experience. 

This is a double header not to be missed, featuring the perfect partners for a night like no other.
